Grove Court achieves accreditation for excellence in palliative care

We are delighted to announce that our Grove Court home in Woodbridge, Sussex, has received accreditation for its outstanding standards of care for residents in the later stages of life.

St Elizabeth Hospice Education, in collaboration with St Helena and St Nicholas Hospices, provides specialised palliative and end-of-life care training and accreditation for health and social care professionals.

The accreditation is a structured, supported self-improvement programme for care homes where the main purpose is to enhance the delivery of palliative and end-of-life care by training staff to deliver high-quality, compassionate care in line with recognised best practices.

“We are very proud to receive our St Elizabeth Hospice Education Accredited Certification,” stated General Manager of Grove Court, Kelly Lockwood.  It confirms that we deliver an outstanding standard of care to our residents during the most sensitive moments of their lives.”

Olivia Curno added: “It means a great deal to everyone at Grove Court and across Elizabeth Finn Homes to receive this Excellence in End-of-Life Care accreditation.  Through our partnership with St Elizabeth Hospice, and over an extended period of working with their Hospice Education team, we have not only benefitted from their expertise but also built a meaningful local relationship.”

To celebrate this achievement, the home held a Tea Party at Grove Court on 31st March when St Elizabeth Hospice Director of Care, Lisa Parrish, presented the home with its certification.  Residents and staff were joined by members of the local community and team members from St Elizabeth Hospice.

The initiative supports St Elizabeth’s “No Place Like Home” campaign, aiming to provide care homes with the skills to help residents remain in their preferred environment at the end of their lives, rather than in a hospital.

“We are delighted that Grove Court has achieved this accreditation, reflecting their strong engagement with the process and their clear commitment to embedding learning into practice to further strengthen and enhance their already demonstrable commitment to high‑quality palliative and end‑of‑life care.”

Catherine O’Brien, Hospice Education Team Leader at St Elizabeth Hospice.
