Short Stay or Respite Care
Short stay and respite care at Merlewood provides all the reassurance and support of our long-term care within a welcoming home environment.
People choose respite care for many different reasons. It may provide a family carer with a well-earned break, offer additional support while a carer is away, or help someone recover following an operation, illness or stay in hospital.
Whatever the reason for joining us, short stay residents receive the same personalised care and attention as those who live with us permanently. They are also welcome to enjoy everything Merlewood has to offer, from restaurant-style dining and activities to our beautiful gardens and social events.
Residential Care
Residential care at Merlewood provides personalised support within a safe, comfortable environment, while helping residents maintain as much independence, choice and freedom as possible.
Our care team is available 24 hours a day to provide support when needed, giving residents and their families additional reassurance while allowing each person to continue living life in the way that suits them.
Residents can enjoy our facilities, activities and social events, spend time in our extensive gardens and, where appropriate, continue getting out and about to visit local shops, attractions and places of interest.
Nursing Care
Merlewood provides 24-hour nursing care for residents who require ongoing support from experienced, qualified nurses alongside assistance with their day-to-day needs.
Our nursing team can support a range of individual and more complex care needs, including chronic and long-term conditions, post-operative care, rehabilitation and care for people with life-limiting illnesses.
Care is tailored to each resident, with our nursing and care teams working together to support their comfort, wellbeing and quality of life. Merlewood also has a dedicated physiotherapy studio to support rehabilitation, mobility and independence where appropriate.
End of Life Care
At Merlewood, our end of life care focuses on comfort, dignity and quality of life, providing compassionate support for residents with life-limiting or terminal illnesses.
Our experienced nursing and care teams provide personalised support in calm and comfortable surroundings, with careful attention given to managing pain and other symptoms and ensuring each resident’s individual needs and wishes are respected.
We also understand how important this time is for families and those closest to the resident, and aim to provide sensitive support and reassurance throughout.
