Celebrating all our nurses on International Nurses Day
On the 12th May there were celebrations across all our homes for International Nurses Day.
Celebrated around the world on Florence Nightingale’s birthday, this special day acknowledges the contribution nurses make to society, raising the profile of nursing and its impact on daily lives, as well as the increasing challenges that arise in our everyday environment.
Nurses provide a vital contribution to our communities and to our health and wellbeing on a daily basis. Across care homes, hospitals, schools and the community there are over 850,000* nurses, midwives and nursing associates registered to practice in the UK.
The celebrations varied across our homes, but members of our Elizabeth Finn Central Management Team visited all of our homes with cards and hampers full of treats to say thank you to our nurses for their dedication, this also included the former nurses amongst our residents.
Michelle Francis, Head of Nursing and Care, visited The Cotswold Home.
“It was an absolute pleasure to thank our nursing teams and a great opportunity for them to take time out from their busy day and know that they are much appreciated. Including our residents who were former nurses also meant their service was not forgotten and just as important.”
At Elizabeth Finn Homes, we are very proud of the fact that nursing is an integral part of the care we offer. All eight care homes incorporate registered nurses as part of our staff teams, most of our home deputy managers and some of our central, senior team are registered nurses or have a clinical background.
The celebrations served as a heartfelt thank you to all nurses across the organisation for the difference they make each and every day.
