Rush Court Team Member Takes on 430-Mile Charity Cycle Challenge for Turn2us

Charity Bike Ride

A dedicated member of the team at Rush Court Care Home in Wallingford is preparing to take on an incredible cycling challenge to raise funds for Turn2us, a national charity supporting people facing financial hardship.

Steve Paris, who works at Rush Court, will cycle an impressive 430 miles between 1 and 10 May 2026, with the aim of raising £1,000 for the charity. The distance represents the journey between Elizabeth Finn Homes’ locations across the country, stretching from Woodbridge in Suffolk to Exeter in Devon.

This latest challenge follows Steve’s successful fundraising skydive for Turn2us last year. Inspired by the charity’s work and the impact it has on individuals and families facing financial uncertainty, he wanted to continue supporting the cause in an even bigger way.
The challenge also coincides with Turn2us’ 129th anniversary, making it a particularly meaningful time to raise awareness and funds for the organisation.

While Steve will be leading the challenge, he won’t be doing it alone. Rush Court residents, relatives and team members will be joining the effort by contributing miles on specialised exercise bikes and taking part in a sponsored walk around the home’s beautiful gardens.

Speaking about his motivation, Steve said:

“Life can throw real challenges at you. I’ve experienced that myself. When a loved one was unwell and our income became unpredictable, I didn’t know where to turn. Experiences like that stay with you, not just financially but emotionally. They’ve made me more aware of how difficult things can be for others. If raising money for a charity like Turn2us can make things even a little easier for a family going through that, it’s worth it.”

Claire Lubbock, Community Fundraising Manager at Turn2us, added:

“We are incredibly grateful to Steve for choosing to support Turn2us again through this fantastic challenge. The money raised will make a real difference for people struggling to afford the basics right now. We’re delighted to have Steve back on our team and wish him the very best of luck.”

At Rush Court, supporting the local community and helping worthwhile causes is an important part of everyday life. The home is proud to be supporting Steve as he takes on this remarkable challenge, and residents are looking forward to cheering him on every mile of the way.
