Thank you Lynette for 47 years of outstanding service!
Lynette Bourne, a carer at our Rashwood Care Home in Droitwich has retired after 47 years of providing exemplary care, one of our longest serving staff members ever!
Lynette started working at Rashwood as a carer on 5th March 1979 but she first saw the home as a six year old child when she visited as part of a school trip with her class to sing Christmas carols for the residents.
Over the years as Lynette developed her skills and knowledge working with a range of staff and caring for hundreds of residents, she also experienced her own milestones. Life events such as getting married, having children and later grandchildren have all been part of her life at Rashwood.
Indeed, for Lynette, Rashwood has a very strong family connection as her mother, grandmother, aunt and sister-in-law have all worked at the home over the years. Rashwood has been more than just a place of work but somewhere with deep connection to family and community.
This connection is even more deeply rooted as Lynette’s grandfather worked at Rashwood when it was a private house. Then known as Rashwood Court, it was the home of John Richard Hugh Sumner, son of Sir John Sumner, founder of Typhoo Tea, who in 1950 passed the 25-roomed residence on to The Distressed Gentlefolk’s Aid Association, set up by Elizabeth Finn
“It has been an amazing 47 years and incredibly rewarding meeting and getting to know so many residents, their families and team members,” comments Lynette. “One particular highlight was when we opened our brand new 40 bedded specialist nursing suite back in 1996 but I have so many fond memories to take away with me.”
Staff and residents at Rashwood threw a surprise party to celebrate Lynette’s remarkable service with relatives and members of the Elizabeth Finn senior management team also in attendance. The catering department put on a delicious spread and there were many heartfelt speeches.
