In this vital leadership role, you will be at the forefront of driving a culture of excellence and individualised care. You’ll work collaboratively with your Senior Management Team colleagues and the Executive Leadership Team to oversee and drive excellence across nursing and care throughout the organisation.

Job Description: Head of Nursing & Care
Location: Hybrid, approximately 3 days per week in our homes
Reports to: Operations Director
Salary: 70k – 75k per annum + company car
Hours: Full-time
Role Overview
The Head of Nursing & Care is pivotal in driving clinical excellence across our homes. You will provide an exemplary framework of how our care is to be structured, delivered and assessed, all through a person-centred approach. You will be a role model, mentor, coach and critical friend to our clinical leaders and teams improving operational efficiency and our resident experience.
Main duties of the role:
- Provide leadership and role modelling to our care teams across our homes to improve resident outcomes and experience
- Provide feedback and guidance to managers, teams and individuals to promote best practice
- Oversee the development and review of policies and procedures to align with regulatory changes
- Develop a framework for clinical training and development to improve resident outcomes
- Deliver training, mentoring and coaching virtually and in person, supporting best practice through on-shift observation and guidance
- Participate in and provide reports to the Clinical Governance Committee and Safeguarding Board
- Ensure robust safeguarding practice is carried out across all homes, fostering a culture of safety and vigilance
- Lead the approach of investigations into safeguarding concerns, ensuring timely reporting to the appropriate authorities and resolution in line with regulatory guidelines
- Ensure appropriate safeguarding knowledge and confidence is in place for all colleagues, promoting awareness and understanding of responsibilities to protect residents from harm and abuse
- Oversee the management of relations with residents and residents’ families with the various Registered Home Managers
- Provide leadership across the activity offering within the homes
- Provide regular intelligence and insight to the group’s leadership, evaluating trends and challenges and proposing solutions
- Be part of the Senior Management Team, contributing to the wider management and leadership of the organisation
Essential Qualifications and Experience
Professional Background:
- Must be an RGN.
- Proven experience in a quality, compliance, or operational role within a health or social care setting.
Knowledge:
- In-depth understanding of CQC regulations, health & safety requirements, and clinical governance.
Skills:
- Strong auditing, report writing, and presentation skills.
Leadership:
- Experience in managing and motivating teams to achieve objectives.
IT Proficiency:
- Familiarity with all care systems and digital packages, comfortable demonstrating systems to others, strong on quality monitoring systems and reporting tools.
Education:
- Relevant qualifications in health and social care (e.g., NVQ Level 5, nursing, or equivalent).

- Meticulous attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
- Excellent communicator with the ability to build rapport across all levels of the organisation.
