Rashwood hosts its Summer Fete
Rashwood opened its doors and beautiful gardens on Saturday 4th July to host its annual Summer Fete.
Over 100 guests including residents, friends, family and the local community attended the event, officially opened by The Mayor of Droitwich Spa, Councillor Sue Brazier.
“It was a real privilege to join the residents, families, and staff for such a lovely occasion,” commented The Mayor of Droitwich Spa, Sue Brazier. “Events like this remind us of how important it is to celebrate community, friendship, and the simple pleasures that bring us all together”
It was a joyous occasion with plenty to keep everyone entertained including various stalls run by local businesspeople and the home’s very own knitwear stall manned by Anne Shilton, a member of the Rashwood Social Engagement team who leads the resident Knitting Club.
Local artist Phil Naish displayed his artwork alongside a range of art and craft stalls, card and book stands and an array of homemade cakes, jams and preserves. There was a tombola, a raffle and an extensive BBQ put on by the Rashwood catering team, serving food throughout the day.
Keeping everyone cool and hydrated was high on the agenda with plenty of shade, refreshing drinks and air-conditioned indoor spaces. Rashwood’s extensive six acres of landscaped gardens were available for everyone to enjoy and explore, both young and old.
“It was a fabulous day for all involved and we are grateful to Cllr Sue Brazier for helping us celebrate and to all those from the local community who came along to support and run stalls,” commented Rachel Wilson, General Manager. “It was lovely to see everyone enjoying the great atmosphere and meeting new people.”
The home would also like to thank Droitwich Police, local charity Carers & Communities and Good Day Farm whose presence on the day added much excitement. Residents and families had the opportunity to sit in the police vehicle and chat to the officers whilst a whole range of farm animals were a particular favourite of the younger guests.
