Recognition for Guy, Social Events Lead at The Lodge

Guy Somerfield, our Social Events Lead at The Lodge, received the Bronze Award at the recent Golden Hearts Awards 2026. Selected by the panel of judges from all quarterly winners over the past twelve months, Guy was absolutely thrilled to win the prestigious award and recognition of his peers.

Presenting the award, Elizabeth Finn Homes Board Member and member of the judging panel Joyce Frederick had this to say about Guy:

“I have heard so many wonderful things about this winner. He seems to have simply endless talents and energy and is beyond passionate about including even the most vulnerable residents. He doesn’t take himself too seriously and is certainly not afraid to get involved,  important attributes for a Social Engagement Lead. From forming the home’s first choir, to designing mocktails, his nomination clearly showed an inspirational warmth and infectious enthusiasm.”

Resident Linda Knott, gave us more insight:

“Guy epitomises the values of The Lodge and indeed Elizabeth Finn. He brings his experience of public service work (the Police and music) to staff and residents with complete inclusivity. He provides one to one music and shows limitless patience with those who struggle-including me and has depth of skill in supporting those who feel they are failing.

He is always willing to help out within his skill set, bringing in other staff if appropriate. I respect his person-centred approach, employing clear boundaries to his and other people’s behaviour. He makes the Lodge feel like home.”

Congratulations Guy and thank you for all your amazing work creating engaging and entertaining activities for our residents.
