Planning ahead for peace of mind
Along with all the festivities, the Christmas period is often one of reflection. Time to catch up with loved ones, family and friends and an opportunity to think about the year ahead, things to be done, actions that need time and attention.
Often at Christmas we spend quality time with our older relatives and are able to see and understand their challenges more clearly. This brings to light those considerations and tasks that are yet to come.
Assessing future needs
The start of a new year is a good opportunity to look more closely at the companionship and support that relatives in later life will need and to plan ahead. This can help alleviate unnecessary stress and anxiety and ensure there is plenty of time to make the right choices and decisions. Above all forward planning will provide peace of mind for those seeking the support of a care home and for the family members during the decision-making process.
Plan a visit
At Elizabeth Finn Homes we are always happy to welcome visitors who want to look around our homes, ask questions, and obtain more information. It is important to acquire an all-round view of a care home, to see how things function on a day-to-day basis. Our internal quality and service monitoring is exemplary but we also seek regular feedback from residents and their families to ensure that we continue to be the best we can be.
Our Annual Family Survey provides an opportunity for loved ones to give us feedback on our homes and the services we offer.
In the recent 2024 Survey we are very proud to share that 99% of respondents answered positively to the question ‘I feel at peace knowing my relative is in the care home’ and similarly to the question ‘my relative is well-cared for.’
In addition, 95% of those surveyed answered positively to the question ‘I believe staff understand my relative’s care needs.’
It is also important to us that we gather resident feedback to understand current views or highlight any concerns and in September we carried out a Resident’s Survey. A key area that residents reported positively on was in relation to feeling safe living at an Elizabeth Finn care home.
Safety and wellbeing
This is perhaps one of the most significant reasons for choosing a care home. Residents safety and wellbeing go hand in hand with giving relatives that peace of mind of knowing their loved one is cared for and importantly cared about.
We aim, through our core values, to ensure all our residents feel welcomed, loved and receive warmth, care and compassion as well as feeling safe and secure.
Our staff understand that making the decision to move to a care home is significant and that the process of selecting the right home to suit individual needs can be difficult.
A New Year offer from us to you
In order to help you discover just how much our homes have to offer, we have introduced a special promotion on permanent residential care bookings made in January 2025. You can find out more on our website but please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have questions or would like to arrange a visit to one of our homes. We would be delighted to help you discover the warmth and caring environment of our beautiful homes.
We know our residents are well-cared for, but here are just a couple of reviews from family members who agree.
Audrey D (Wife of Resident)
From the moment my husband arrived he received a warm and friendly welcome. The nursing staff were excellent and the health care assistants were very caring. They were always cheerful and treated him with dignity and compassion. Nothing was too much trouble. The general manager would often call in for a chat and always made sure he was happy. Choosing a nursing care home for a loved one is possibly one of the most difficult tasks a family may have to do but we chose well
Alison S (Daughter of Resident)
Both my parents were residents at Rashwood for several years, my mother is still a resident and feels very much at home there. As we live in Scotland it is a great comfort to know our loved one is happy and so well looked after. I couldn’t speak more highly of the staff, activities and food. Every effort is made to accommodate the needs of the individual.
Review from Neil G (Son of Resident)
The Lodge provides excellent care for Mum. The entire team – from care staff and nurses to cleaners, activity coordinators, catering and management – are professional, friendly and attentive. The facility is beautiful, the food is good, and there’s a good variety of activities, but the staff’s genuine care and attention to residents’ needs is what makes this place stand out.
