Care Home Open Week

This week, 16-22 June, is Care Home Open Week and we look forward to welcoming the local community into our lovely homes.

All our eight homes work closely with the communities around them and having visitors spend time with us, engaging with our residents, is an important part of daily life.

Care Home Open Week is a great initiative that encourages integration with the wider community as well as providing an opportunity to celebrate the vital role care homes have in our society and the great work staff and volunteers do every day.

There are over 16,500 care homes in the UK which provide a home and care for almost half a million people.*

This week shines a light on the many aspects of daily life in care homes that are often overlooked, the sense of community, the companionship, the joy and friendship that residents experience each day, all alongside outstanding care. We fully support this opportunity to raise awareness and help shift perceptions of what is a vital and significant part of life for many people across the UK

A good care home provides a place of sanctuary, away from the worry of dealing with potential scams, house to house callers and difficult financial, maintenance and utility supplier issues. With a frontline of capable, caring staff, residents are shielded from the everyday problems and able to enjoy life without the worry of having to sort out these often-stressful issues.

Our residents particularly enjoy the restaurant-style dining we provide and the camaraderie of sharing mealtimes and conversation with others. We serve balanced, nutritious, and varied meals every day, supporting residents to maintain a healthy diet without the worries of shopping and cooking. We welcome family and friends to join us, and intergenerational company supports the wellbeing of everyone.

Our homes are set in beautiful, landscaped gardens which, throughout the year, are places of interest where our residents can enjoy nature and the changing seasons outdoors of from their armchairs and make full use of the grounds when the weather permits.  We have plenty of opportunities for gardening for those who have green fingers, and all our gardens are wheelchair accessible.

We hope that Care Home Open Week will highlight how we work to alleviate the isolation that many older people feel, by creating comfortable, loving places where people flourish with a ready-made social environment for residents to share with each other, local volunteers and visitors, as well as social groups, school children and entertainers.

We look forward to welcoming you into our homes this Care Home Open Week, please get in touch and join us for a cup of tea and so much more!
