Care Worker Jay skydives for charity!

Elizabeth Finn staff member, Jay Wallace, a Care Assistant at our Halliwell Care Home in Tunbridge Wells took to the skies last month to raise money for those less fortunate.

Elizabeth Finn Homes group is a wholly owned subsidiary of the national charity, Turn2us.  First established by humanitarian Elizabeth Finn as the Distressed Gentlefolks’ Aid Association in 1897, the charity went on to set up Elizabeth Finn Homes in 1948 in response to a shortage of homes for the elderly.

Today, Halliwell and our other homes, continue to support Turn2us, helping to improve the lives of those affected by financial insecurity and poverty, with staff and residents getting involved in various fund-raising initiatives.

“The idea of doing a skydive was something that genuinely scared me, but that was also part of the reason I wanted to do it,” Jay told us. “I wanted to challenge myself, step outside my comfort zone and I wanted the challenge to have a purpose beyond myself.”

Through his role at Halliwell, Jay became aware of the work of Turn2us and the difference the charity makes supporting those facing difficult circumstances. Jay has been facing his own life challenges and was keen to do something that could help others through a difficult period in their lives.

Jay raised £750 from his fearless skydive and said it was without doubt the best experience of his life.   “A genuine thank you to everyone who supported me, whether you donated, shared my fundraiser or encouraged me along the way, your support has helped make this possible.”

“I am so proud of Jay who has had a difficult year but has turned things around and this achievement just highlights the true potential some of our staff have with the right support,” stated Karl Pay, Manager at Halliwell.
