Develop your culinary talents in the Care Home Sector
Are you a chef or training to be one? Have you considered a role in the Care Home sector?
Often over-looked as outlets for culinary excellence, you might be surprised at the opportunities for growth and creativity that are on offer.
Working in a care home as a Chef or part of the catering team can be quite different to some other catering sectors but it is an enjoyable and very satisfying place to work. It offers a fulfilling career with the opportunity to make a real difference to people’s lives, on a daily basis.
Creating tasty, nutritious dishes for a range of needs and requirements can be a challenge but a good one. At Elizabeth Finn we provide quarterly menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner that use seasonal produce and include a whole range of British classics as well as international cuisine.
Inspired Dining
Our chefs have freedom to create an additional assortment of delicious treats for special occasions, such as St Georges Day, Valentines, Christmas, Easter and Burns Night and we have seen some amazing food worthy of a 5* restaurant.
All our homes offer restaurant-style dining in elegant surroundings with a good choice of dishes. There are often fetes, open days, BBQs and other social events to cater for and the opportunity to introduce individuality and new opportunities to enrich the lives of our residents.
At Rashwood we recently introduced a scheme where one resident’s name is selected at random each week and that chosen resident can request anything they wish to eat for lunch or supper, made specifically for them.
As you will expect, dining is a key part of life in a care home. Residents look forward to mealtimes, to enjoying good food and the company of others. Therefore, our catering teams play a crucial role in adding joy to the lives of our residents, helping them flourish and improving quality of life.
And we win awards!
This year our Catering Team at Cotswold Home have been shortlisted for the Care Home Catering Awards and in 2022 our Senior Chef at Rashwood won the Care Home Chef award for the West Midlands region.
